“After all the labor contracts he negotiated in the last 34 years, Supervisor Feiner cannot be shocked by the financial consequences of his own decisions,” said McGoey.... I wish this could be fixed with something as simple as his new proposal, but in reality it’s just a gimmick to create the appearance of a solution.”

Term limits promote strong institutions and accountable leadership. I'm running for Greenburgh Town Supervisor to tackle the mismanagement and nearly $100 million deficit that developed on 17-term incumbent Paul Feiner's watch—and to set the Town on a better course for the future.

The $20,000 healthcare buyout exists because Supervisor Feiner, the Town’s chief fiscal officer, negotiated and established this policy over a decade ago. If Mr. Feiner now thinks this policy is flawed, he owes Greenburgh residents an explanation—why did he negotiate it, and why did he support it for so many years?

"I have not seen a department or its staff subjected to this level of sustained public criticism while similarly structured departments have not, which raises legitimate concerns regarding fairness, consistency, and equal treatment within Town government."

“Since the last village was incorporated in 1910, no area in Greenburgh has felt a need to incorporate,” said McGoey. “It’s a symptom of Feiner’s 34-year reign. People feel unheard.”

"[EFPR Group CPAs's] independent forensic and financial performance review...exposed serious fiscal mismanagement of funds, which the current Town Comptroller estimates to amount to approximately $100,000,000.... The Town Council is concerned that the forensic review has identified only a fraction of the fiscal mismanagement."

"According to the audit by EFPR Group, a prominent Rochester-based firm, [Supervisor Feiner] was asleep at the wheel. The firm, which reviewed town finances from 2020 to 2023, found that $29.4 million in property taxes remain unpaid as of 2024 — including millions in tax bills that date back almost 60 years."

Supervisor Feiner spends "40 to 50%" of his days sending emails from his sister's house in Scarsdale, meanwhile fiscal and administrative issues have mounted in the Town Hall.

Barry McGoey wins the Democratic endorsement for Town Supervisor with 82.5% of the vote — the highest percentage in the party's history.

"Mc­Goey brings with him more than 30 years of gov­ern­ment-re­lated ser­vice.... Per­haps most per­ti­nent to the town’s fi­nan­cial chal­lenges, he worked as an in­ter­nal au­di­tor."

“When residents are learning that tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue went uncollected, it’s deeply troubling,” McGoey said. “Combined with what we’ve seen during recent emergencies, it’s clear that a new set of eyes is needed at Town Hall.”
