McGoey, like several previous Greenburgh challengers, has the backing of the Greenburgh Democratic Committee, an organization that represents the town’s 37,000 enrolled Democrats. Party Chairman Steve Bass said that McGoey has been a stalwart Democrat who could be counted upon to promote an array of Democratic candidates.
Democrats also say McGoey, an attorney, has solid experience with municipal government — both as an elected official in Ardsley and during his years negotiating with the city of Yonkers on behalf of its firefighters.
The Greenburgh Democrats have backed McGoey in his bid to oust Feiner, with 82% of the committee’s district leaders backing him, said Bass....
Over the years, McGoey said he has stood on picket lines for Verizon workers, hospital employees and members of construction trade unions.
“It would be unusual if I didn’t have union support,” said McGoey. “They have seen me for the past 25 years, and know how dedicated I am. They also understand the danger of incumbency unchecked by term limits, which is very difficult to overcome.”
